Become a 2010 DECA Competition Judge!

Dec 14, 2009

This spring, over 3,200 Washington State high school students are waiting to benefit from your business expertise and real-world experiences. They will gather as part of the Washington DECA State Career Development Conference to compete in more than 40 different career categories for a chance to advance to international competition.

Experts from the community and business world are needed as judges in order to evaluate our students' business knowledge. Judging simply requires a background in business and an interest in helping high school students find their future career pathway. DECA's competitive events allow students to demonstrate their learning in the areas of business, marketing, entrepreneurship and management.

It will take more than 600 volunteer judges to make the
2010 State Career and Development Conference a success.

Please choose one of the following options to get involved!

Option One:
Written Event Judging:  On Friday, January 29th, 60 judges are needed to read and evaluate student-written business plans, market research, and chapter projects. You will return on Friday, March 5th to hear these same students orally present their written business plans and projects.

Option Two:
Role Play and Presentation Judging: On Friday, March 5th, over 600 business and community volunteers are needed to evaluate students on their presentation of solutions to real-world business situations. This half-to full-day commitment will allow you to experience some of the brightest teen minds and their understanding of business. Each judge will be partnered with another judge to evaluate each role play.

The time you take to judge for DECA this spring will make an incredible difference in the lives of these motivated high school students.
And it just may be a life-changing experience for you, too.
