ABOUT THE BOUTIQUE:
The just-opened Kerut packs an interior that's "50s Palm Springs meets Morocco meets Nantucket," says owner Lauren Turek, herself a New York financier-turned-stylist. Turek recently moved to San Diego after a stint styling the jet-set at J. Crew's concept store in Aspen. (The name of the shop is Turek's name spelled backward.)
Kerut provides a well-curated collection of the most innovative women's clothing and accessories from around the globe in a six-star service environment. Labels include SJP-directed Halston Heritage (the shop has the S.D. exclusive on it), John Patrick Organic (crisp, eco-friendly clothier to the cool girls), Kaine, Sachin and Babi, and bags by Geisha de Guadalupe, which designed a laminated wood and white leather purse especially for the shop. Kerut’s opening weekend found visitors from Los Angeles, Spain and the Netherlands mingling with stylish locals in pure retail harmony.
The stay-awhile aesthetic includes a mod acrylic coffee table stacked with current and vintage magazines, North African lanterns, and achingly chic wicker club chairs. Turek even knocked out the back wall to open up an ocean view. And bonus: Kerut offers home delivery and free overnight shipping.
