After graduating from UCLA with a degree in English literature, Amy wondered if her dream job was out there. Reluctant to hop straight on the corporate treadmill, her adventurous spirit quickly landed her job for a European press and communications firm. She was soon promoted to international project directorbecoming the youngest person to hold such a position in the companys at the time.
Living and working in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, Amy wrote and produced investment reports distributed in Time, U.S. News and World Report, The Sunday Telegraph and other European media. She built a sizable portfolio of international contacts and interviewed over 100 heads of state and CEOs including Israeli Foreign Minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Shimon Perez; son of Egyptian President and current presidential hopeful, Gamal Mubarak; President of Ghana, John Kufour; and Prime Minister of Malta, Dr. Edward Fenech-Adami.
On the heels of her 4-month solo journey to South America, where Amy learned Spanish and hiked the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, she returned to California to be near family and friends. Ready to give the corporate world a try and equipped with her desire to create a balanced lifestyle, Amy joined a national wireless carrier where she managed national bilingual consumer campaigns in both Spanish and English which encompassed TV, radio, print, sponsorships and grassroots public relations tactics.
Alas ...the corporate grind made her feel claustrophobic and the florescent lights...well, were not sunlight. However, her innate talents for brand strategy and communications made Amys transition to consulting in her own business a logical next step. With clients ranging from high-tech to non-profit, self-employment has allowed Amy to continue to indulge her passion for adventure and humanitarian causes. In 2005 she traveled to West Sumatra to direct SurfAid Internationals marketing and public relations during the 2004 tsunami relief effort.
Currently Amy consults other businesses in building their communications and marketing strategies and training businesses on DIY marketing and PR strategies through her new company Raw Marketing.
Amy also founded Ladies Who Launch in San Diego, a national organization to foster entrepreneurship and creativity as a lifestyle through in person workshops and events and an online community.
Her hobbies include traveling off the beaten track, surfing, skiing, reading, music, and anything and everything you can do outdoors in nature.
