Lunch & Learn is an interactive Q&A session hosted by an industry expert in their office. The event is capped at 10-15 attendees to ensure all attendees are able to participate. This event is FREE for Platinum Members.
JULY 18 - LUNCH & LEARN - WRITING A BUSINESS PLAN W/ ALLISON LEHR
Allison Lehr at the Small Business Development Center, will lead a two-hour workshop on the basics of writing a business plan. This event was created exclusively to help Ladies Who Launch members.
SBDC provides an array of services which may include helping write business plans, helping with financial projections and cash flow management, getting women-owned business certification and government contracts, registering businesses, marketing, market research, branding, loan packaging, copywriting/ trademarking and complying with licensing and regulatory requirements. Business advisors include professors, MBA grads, a pro bono accountant, and some who also are entrepreneurs themselves. SBDC gives personalized one-on-one counseling but also conducts workshops during the evenings. There is no charge for any of the SBDC services.
Allison Lehr Samuels is a full-time Lecturer in the Management Department with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Small Business, and a Field Mentor at the Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College. Her consulting work has included over 1000 small business owners and entrepreneurs who have ranged from fashion designers, radio producers, and restaurateurs, to hedge fund consultants, violin makers and graphic designers. She has extensive experience developing business and marketing plans, obtaining small business loans and building up the knowledge and confidence of her clients so that they feel empowered to take action.
Most recently, she was the first recipient of the Zicklin Hybrid Online Teaching with Technology Award for her work in curriculum development. She has co-developed and implemented a course on Women and Entrepreneurship which looks at the challenges specific to women owned businesses, and explores the necessary skills for women to successfully obtain resources and run successful businesses. She holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship Management from Baruch College and a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University in Theatre.
