The first question Karla and I ask when we sit down in a coaching
session with you is: what's your goal and what's your mission? Sometimes we get specific
answers, but usually we don't. As many of you who have gone through
the Incubator Intensive know, we think it's OK if you don't have a
"business plan" from the get-go. If you had to do that, many of you would never get started. (Eventually, you'll need one and it
will evolve.) However, what we don't think is OK is if you haven't set
up some specific goals for yourself and worked through various
scenarios. Even if your goal is off or your plan falls through, it's
better to be specifically wrong than vaguely wrong. Your brain works
better to achieve if it has a specific tangible goal to meet. For
example, if you say you want to earn $100,000 next year, how many
widgets do you need to sell by end of next week to meet that goal? If
you don't know the answer, than make sure you join us on May 25th!
Have you set the right goals for your business?
Join us Tuesday, May 25, when Carissa Reiniger will share with us the
importance of setting an annual goal, and how to choose the right
goal for your business in the next 12 months. Carissa is the Founder
and President of Silver Lining Ltd., and in the last 5 years, has
helped thousands of entrepreneurs set goals and reach them! We met
Carissa last year when she was doing her Blackberry sponsored SLAP
tour. She is one fun, hardcore dynamo and by the age of 27 has already
created her first million.
Carissa, and her NY-based partner, Deborah Novick, will discuss:
The goal posts of goal setting how to set a goal thats
appropriately aggressive, realistic, and measurable for your business
right now.
How to break down the goal into individual units of sale
How many lines of business do you have?
Are they all profitable?
Which are easiest to sell and most profitable?
And most important, how many sales are needed to reach your goal?
Without clarity about your goals, it is almost impossible to grow. By
creating a one-year goal, you always have something to move towards and
a way to measure your success.
"If you dont know where youre going,
any road will take you there." -George Harrison
