I’ve spent my career leading the growth and development of consumer-based entertainment and technology businesses.
I started my career in corporate world – as a CPA at KPMG and in finance at The Walt Disney Company. There I had the opportunity to nurture my creative side, leading Disney Records and Music to 21 Gold and Platinum Awards, and launching Disney Software, the predecessor of Disney Interactive Being a young mom put me right in touch with our core audience – and we were very successful creating computer and video games that touched family audiences. Our first year in business, 45% of the growth in the early-childhood game market was due to our titles. In two years, we won 23 software awards.
After Disney, I learned the computer animation world at USAnimation , and then moved on as a key member of the startup team for the Mommy & Me Association. We created the first ever national association for playgroup leaders – and the largest database of parent/child playgroup and class opportunities and activities for parents and kids to enjoy right in their neighborhood. I learned that I loved to work with corporate and other partners to make something bigger and better. USAnimation became the number 1 software in its space. We successfully sold both of these companies.
Next it was off to kidthing – an innovative browser for kids to be able to consume content safely. I took the lessons learned at kidthing and we brought in partners ranging from the National Education Association to Dr. Seuss Enterprises to Parenting Magazine.
At the same time, I put my devotion to kids and families into practice as part of the startup team of the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House – working on everything from the idea, working with the hospital, the city, the state and RMHC to bring a Ronald McDonald House to Pasadena. The house has now served hundreds of families.
By this time, I realized that I loved working in start-ups – with their ability to create something totally new.
I am currently COO of Donate My Card,(http://donatemycard.com) a new technology company that allows the donation of gift card balances to charity. We are working with partner charities such as USO, National Park Foundation, ALS Association,Good 360, Habitat for Humanity, National Kidney Foundation, UN Foundation, Girl Scouts, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship among others. This is a wonderful and painless ways to support charities.
I am also co-founder and CBDO of Revizzit, (http://revizzit.com) the new platform for exclusive digital content. Revizzit finally solves many of the problems that companies face when they try to sell their digital content online – piracy, shared passwords, offering the product for sale without lots of different programs, creating community , updating and distributing content. It is essentially a fully integrated system for creating, monetizing and distributing digital content – eBooks, training courses, membership sites, video and interactive content. I love this product because it helps empower people to start their businesses.
I’ve served as a board member for RMHCSC, RMHCPasadena, RIAA , Women in Animation steering committee and am currently a mentor for upStart.LA
