When Does Helping Become a Crutch?

It has become very obvious to me that over the last few days I have stepped over that invisible line that exists between helping and enabling Yea, yea, yea, I know. You probably do it all the time but I thought I was different. But I guess I am not.

Let me give you an example.  Some days when my household is very busy, I will lay out what we need to do and I tell everyone when and where and how they are going to get there. However, this week 3 different instances came to my attention that some of my family members have come to rely on my direction so much that they've stopped figuring it out for themselves. Wow! That was an eye opener. When did I cross that line? Why didn't I notice that my behavior was becoming enabling? I am glad I caught it and I vow to change but will I survive the transition? I'll keep you posted.
