Seven years ago I transitioned from corporate marketing into consulting, primarily for the flexibility to help a family member through a series of medical challenges.
One August afternoon I admittedly became a bit selfish. There were things I needed to learn and do to advance my business--things I'd put on hold for too long. Within 90 minutes that day I signed up for both the LWL Incubator and a Masters in Internet Marketing program.
At the time I was proud of stepping into a new course of action, but I didn't know then how gratifying it would be. Today I work with people who are transitioning in all walks of life...people who want and need to fully showcase their unique skills and expertise.
I've been an unabashed fan of the LinkedIn network since I joined in 2007. Initially I wanted to get smart about the power of this platform so it could attract opportunities to me 24/7, since I already had a full plate. Eventually I put that knowledge to work for clients who needed help for similar reasons, whether starting a new business, looking for a new career direction, trying to raise additional funding, or penetrating new markets.
I feel a real sense of satisfaction every day as I help people optimize their LinkedIn presence. It's rewarding to see them move so rapidly from feeling incomplete to empowered, often in just a few hours.
