Hi everyone. I want to introduce myself. I am Kathy McShane, a businesswoman, wife, mom, and entrepreneur and the new director of the Southwestern Connecticut franchise of Ladies Who Launch, which includes the southern half of New Haven and Fairfield counties.
I promise you many exciting new opportunities through Ladies Who Launch, including an expansion of the Strata Program and a new “Fast Track” version of our Fresh Entrepreneur program.
I want you to know that I am dedicated to relaunching LWL with a renewed focus and direction. My goal in taking over this organization is to offer women real solutions to getting their businesses off the ground and sustaining them.
I bring 25 years of marketing and product/brand development expertise to the Ladies Who Launch organization. I have run businesses for major financial institutions as well as my own, so I know the issues you face, and, more importantly, I know how to address and overcome them.
I look forward to helping you.
Kind regards
Kathy McShane
Kathy McShane, a New Canaan business women and entrepreneur who founded Kendrew Group, Ltd., an award-winning marketing and brand development agency that launched major campaigns for Visa, MasterCard, JP Morgan Chase, and HBO, among many others, has taken over as Market Director of Ladies Who Launch. LWL is a national organization with branches in more than 50 cities in the U.S. and Canada dedicated to turning women into successful entrepreneurs. It provides support, training, financial and creative resources, and valuable connections to help women put their business ideas into action.
The Ladies Who Launch group of Fairfield and New Haven counties has more than 300 women who take advantage of LWL resources to help execute their business plans and grow existing businesses.
More than a successful entrepreneur, Ms. McShane is a committed community leader. She serves on the board of directors of the Bank of New Canaan and the Norwalk Hospital Foundation. She is also co-chair of Norwalk Hospital’s Circle of Caring. Additionally, she runs positive psychology workshops throughout Fairfield County and created the non-profit “Exceptional Woman Series,” a program to recognize women leaders in Fairfield County. She is an adjunct professor at New York University.
As the new Market Director for Ladies Who Launch, Ms. McShane plans a number of changes she believes will move members forward by providing greater focus and direction.
“I want to initiate a ‘fast-track’ boot camp-style series for our Fresh Entrepreneur training programs,” said Ms. McShane. “Many women who are trying to launch their own businesses are still employed in other jobs, or juggling family with part-time or full-time work, so they need to jump-start their businesses so they can hit the ground running.
“I plan to focus on ‘value-added’ programs which allow our members a secure environment in which they can air their ideas and get valuable feedback from their peers, a brain-trust atmosphere where ideas can take flight."
Ms. McShane also is looking at innovative ways to reach out to special groups such as women in the military - who are often not on anyone’s radar - for helping them to develop as entrepreneurs.
“I am excited about meeting and working with the innovative and energized women who are members of our New Haven and Fairfield counties chapter. My goal is to help them make a difference.” said Ms. McShane.
