When I began my career in 1972 on Wall Street, there were almost no women financial advisors or women in top management positions. I started "at the bottom" as a file clerk during a summer job and learned and absorbed everything I could. I worked my way up the ladder without any help. I never allowed the fact that I was a woman in a man's field to stop me. I just ignored that fact. Even though I work for a major firm, I built and manage my own business because my client base is mine. I have an important rule. I will only work with clients who respect me and whom I respect. Many of my clients have become really good friends and this makes my daily work life very enjoyable. I am living my dream!

I volunteer at Norwalk Hospital in the emergency room. One night a young girl came in as a code 1 trauma. She had suffered a horrific accident at home and lost a leg. In a heartbeat her life and the life of her family members changed forever. In that instance my life changed forever too. I no longer "sweat the small stuff" and I enjoy each day to the fullest. I changed my business model. I stopped trying to be everything to everybody. I went back to focusing on my areas of strength and found that I once again really enjoy what I do. By the way, the little girl is doing great. She takes dance class and plays soccer.
