  • Internet connection – In order to incorporate a VoIP system into your office, you must have a broadband Internet connection. Your Internet connection must also be able to handle the added traffic that will be produced from incoming and outgoing phone calls. A VoIP service provider will be able to test the capabilities of your network before a VoIP system is installed.
  • Power outages – VoIP do not run through separate lines like traditional phone systems. This means that if there is a power outage and your Internet connection goes down, you will be unable to use your phones. Your service provider may be able to supply backup power so that you will not lose your phone connection in the event of a power outage.
  • 911 calls – Because VoIP uses the Internet to send calls, it is difficult to geographically locate where a call is generated. You will also be required to pay installation fees, which will vary depending upon the size of your office. You also need to factor in purchasing the required VoIP hardware, such as VoIP phones or adaptors.
