“My business is called the Pretty Panty Line and I have created a luxury lingerie drying device for all those delicate items that can’t stand the harsh heat of the dryer. My ‘invisible’ mentor has been Sara Blakely for years. With the encouragement of my fellow LWL members, I finally worked up enough nerve to call her office! As fate would have it, her executive assistant called me back and I now have a meeting set up for next week where Sara will be reviewing my product. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I want to thank Ladies Who Launch and all the women who have supported me. Bevla Reeves is our leader and has an incredible presence–a true gem! Thank you for guiding me on my road to success.”

“When I joined Ladies Who Launch I was reaching outside my comfort zone. I, like many other women, am terrified of speaking up in front of both small and large groups. I’ve taken acting and public speaking classes, but I have always wiggled my way out of sharing with a group. For school presentations I would get a ’stomachache’ or if that didn’t work I would partner with someone who loved to hear themselves speak. I guess it was this feeling that whatever I had to say wasn’t good
enough. But that’s just a horrible way to go through life! When I came up with my business idea Teentalk101.com, I was excited but had no one to share my idea with. I realized this was my time to shine. I remember walking into my first Incubator Intensive workshop not knowing what to expect. Would I just close off from the group and hold back from sharing my ideas? There was no choice. I had to speak. And let me tell you–my dream business, Teentalk101.com, will soon be ready to launch and thrive, thanks to the motivating words and constant support from my lifelong friends at LWL. In the meantime, join me on my blog TalkwithRach.blogspot.com. LWL has given me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone every day!”

“I just wanted to let you know, that thanks to your email with the Henri Bendel open call date, I now have 3 trunk shows lined up to feature my belts there in May alone! Thanks so much for the lead on that! I thought you might want to share this success story with other designers and members! The line was 3 hours long, and it was cold and rainy, but ultimately, thanks to perseverance and the Ladies Who Launch email, I made it!”

“I joined Ladies Who Launch in February 2007 and shortly thereafter launched a new product “My Money Matters”, a boxed set of financial cards with money affirmations, instant money tips and workbooklets (www.mymoneykit.com). While I have had a service business for over 5 years, I was entering the product world and wanted the inspiration, support and expertise that Ladies Who Launch offered. Since then, I published my product, got national distribution, thousands of dollars in direct sales and valuable press. Some of it is directly a result of Ladies Who Launch (direct sales, press mention in Glamour Magazine and strategic alliances) and the rest is credited from the incredible network of women business owners and their success as well.”

“Thanks so much for reading my blog! I’ve been wanting to write my own stuff for a while…and the LWL incubator took a “pipe dream” and made it an inevitability. Make no mistake, I still get nauseous every time I hit “publish” on my blog. And when I hired a graphic designer for business cards, and a photographer for some cool shots of me, I definitely hear the voices “Umm, what are you doing?! What the hell is going on?!”. But now, it just really feels impossible to turn back.
So thank you.”

“The reason why I am sending this email out is because not only did I feel the need to spread the word that we managed to pull off this event with surprised success but also because of Ladies Who Launch. When Ecco Domani requested to provide the gift bags, I sent out a LWL email trying find items to fill it up. I was then fortunate enough to have Kim Ima’s Treat Truck provide ‘handbag cookies,’ Margot Tohn’s “Park It Guide,” and Stephanie Pederson’s amazing book “Handbags: What Every Woman Should Know” – (mind you, all of which were a HUGE hit as I heard people raving about the purse-shaped cookies, now they know where to park and that the finally have a coffee table book about handbags.) 3 companies contacted me asking if they could be part of the event by sponsoring and also providing the winner’s prizes because they heard about it through LWL, including having one of the winner’s featured on Karen Salmansohn’s “Be Happy Dammit” radio show. In addition, several LWL women bought tickets to come and support the cause and were also kind enough to send a thank you note saying what a wonderful time they had (including Beth…) which I am incredibly grateful for. Last but so far from least, 4 finalists and 2 of our winner’s are actually LWL members: Julie Lazarus of “Elezar” won Handbag Designer 101’s Audience Selected Handbag and Katherine Kwei won Best Handbag in Overall Style and Design. (Please note I had NOTHING to do with the voting.)”

“I know you are terribly busy, but I have to share some amazing news with you. We initially met back in Chicago in March at the Country Living/LWL Women’s Entreprenuer Conference, and I introduced myself to you (I am an ongoing Los Angeles member). I have a line of handmade handbags and accessories, and had pitched my line of hostess aprons to the editors at the ‘Pitch your Product’ portion of the event. We met again last month at the Los Angeles book signing, and I reminded you of our meeting, and mentioned that Country Living had requested samples, but I hadn’t heard anything yet. Wednesday was the deadline for contact, and they called, and told me I was one of the businesses selected from that day! I’m so over-the-top happy and excited, and became quite emotional when they told me that out of all the businesses that pitched (I think there were 120?), only 9 were selected! Besides wanting to share this amazing news with you, I wanted to tell you and Victoria that the only way I was able to do this, was because of Ladies Who Launch. As crazy as that sounds! I have been in this business for almost 4 years, have been receiving the LWL emails for about that long, but finally broke down and took an incubator in January (because I needed direction, and a boost to take my business to the next step). I would have NEVER had the confidence to put myself out there, take such a huge chance and risk, and step out of my comfort zone, if it hadn’t been for my incubator ladies and Sarah Shaw, my leader. Surrounding myself with these incredible women, along with the supporters in my personal life, gave me the confidence to do this, and I am forever grateful. So I wanted to say Thank You, and send a huge virtual hug - because you guys have created such an amazing network of support and encouragement for all the women out there who are going after their dreams.”

“I can’t think of one single thing that has made a bigger impact on my watch collection that LWL. It truly has put in me in the right direction, but also helped me meet a tremendous amount of great women who are like- minded, smart and share a passion for ‘doing their own thing.’”

“Hi Beth,
How are you? I have something that I wanted to share with you. This morning as I was getting ready for my day, I was thinking about what many people have asked me over and over again over the past few months, “How do you do it all?” They don’t understand how I’m able to pull off so many large scale events and work on large projects all at the same time. I guess I never gave it all that much thought, but this morning I did and here goes:

I’ve pulled together (in only 3 months) a first annual block party fundraiser in Hawaii scheduled for this Saturday for 4-5000 people ( www.CoolKailuaNights.com )
I’m working on a breast cancer fundraiser in New York on Feb 24th ( www.BreastDay.org )
I’m moderating an event association in NY, PA, DC, & CA ( http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/NewYorkEventPlanners/ )
I’m getting ready to launch a major web site for the event industry next month ( www.EventHeadquarters.com )
I’m in the planning phase of our annual “Hamptons Preview Party” scheduled for this May ( http://www.soireeeventsusa.com/hamptons.htm )
I’ve just started a woman’s group in Hawaii ( www.SocialWahines.com )

Here I am, excited as could be for all that I’m working on, a little stressed but enjoying it! What more could I ask for in a career? I’ve given others advice in the past about ways in which they can be more organized and focused in order to get more accomplished and to ensure what they’re trying to accomplish gets done well. Well, I had to get this advice from somewhere, and that somewhere was YOU! Yes, you beth. You had told me in the incubator class over a year ago that it’s really important to take time for you, to do what you need to make you happy, to feed your soul and to do it often, whether it be getting your nails done twice a month, a facial, every week, a massage every other week, etc. You got the message through to me that once you’ve satisfied your own needs, then you will be better prepared to take on the everyday challenges of being an entrepreneur and accomplish the things you’ve set out to do. You’ll enjoy it more, your work will be much higher-quality, and you’ll feel good about yourself. I took your advice and implemented it into my own life right then and there, sitting in your class. It was like a light bulb went off and I instantly got it! Your advice came at a time when I had just left my full time job and started my own company, operating from home. I was having a difficult time as I found myself working around the clock, in the middle of the night, etc….just because it was there and work needed to get done and that just wasn’t healthy and I wasn’t being very productive even thought I was working more. I thankful that I realized from the start what I needed to do in order to achieve my goals and so far it’s really worked.

In the midst of all zillion projects I’m working on, I’ve taken time out to have lunch with my Mom and all the women in my family, go to doctor’s appointments, grab a dinner with friends, take a swim in the ocean, etc. I realize now that I could not do this job if I didn’t take time for me. I also realize that I wouldn’t have know how important this was if it wasn’t for you! I want you to know that you gave me some much needed advice that has impacted my life, my success, and I want to thank you. As we say in Hawaii, Mahalo!”

“I just wanted to reiterate the power of your Launch Pad! Only a day after registering my business on the Launch Pad I had an inquiry from a fellow entrepreneur about my custom holiday photo cards. Clear across the country, in an area I have thought about tapping into, I made this incredible connection! Our correspondence was more than a product exchange - it was an exchange of ideas, support & friendship. What a deal! Thank you for this wonderful network you’ve established for us. It works.”

“I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how Ladies Who Launch has changed my life. I learned of Ladies Who Launch about a month ago when I met our local facilitator, Whitney Roberts, at an e-Women’s Network luncheon. As Whitney described LWL, my eyes filled with tears. I was actually afraid I would cry, right there in the middle of a room filled with professional women! You see, I had built one business all alone and was in the final stages of building my second business. It is SO lonely in a home office with no co-workers, no team to support and encourage your efforts. This is the third week of the LWL Incubator and I LOVE every minute of it! I had felt there was something missing from my life, it was Ladies Who Launch!”
Dana Hall

“I learned about ‘Ladies Who Launch’ through a friend. I took a $125 dollar risk and signed up for the event to see what “Ladies Who Launch” was all about. The event exceeded my expectations. I consider myself a tough critic, and I thought the event was well-done from beginning to end. The sequence of events flowed perfectly. It was educational, inspirational, confidence building and helped me expand my network. I didn’t feel intimidated or a sense of competition-even being in a room of many other women who are either ‘launched’ or ‘launching.’ It was a very encouraging atmosphere. Thank you for such a wonderful event and I’m looking forward to the next one.”

“Hello Victoria… What has LWL done to me? I never imagined I could remove road blocks like, speaking in public. Something happened to me that day after being on the LWL panel. To think I agonized over being a speaker the entire summer. After my turn, all these ideas came to me with tons of visual ideas to use for perspective members. If I had a chance to do another panel, my presentation would start with…if you join LWL….Imagine-action! I will continue to share my experiences with women and the young women I work with each day in our high school College & Career Center. It was great meeting you at the Detroit event. This organization means so much to me.”

“It was so nice to meet you last week at Ladies Who Launch, Detroit. It was an amazing experience and I wanted to share with you how Ladies Who Launch has changed my life in less than one week. First, I should tell you that I am an artist and after nearly 20 years in television and communications and after a disastrous last job in corporate America, I fell back into art and decided that this is where I want to stay. I came to Ladies Who Launch with the hope of finding support from other women. I was also hoping to learn from the vast experience gathered in Detroit. I was not disappointed. I asked the women at my table for some advice. I told them that I wanted to go to an artist conference and workshop in November, but need to raise another $1000. I asked them how they would raise the money. Immediately, one woman at my table offered to throw a “meet the artist” party at her home where I can sell my work. The lady next to her said that she was in real estate and would send post cards to her entire neighborhood inviting them to the party. She then went around the table and asked each one of us if we would commit to bringing three people. That party is set for next month. I couldn’t believe how everyone jumped right in to help a complete stranger. But, that’s not the end of the story. Ladies Who Launch is continuing to help me launch my art business. The leader of Ladies Who Launch, Houston saw my ad selling my artwork from the LADIES website. She went to my website and purchased one of my paintings for her business. It’s a perfect example of women networking! And in less than one week I am well on my goals. Just wanted to let you know how your idea is changing the lives of women everywhere. Thanks again!”

“My name is Sarah Russell and I had sent you a testimonial over the summer regarding the positive energy I received in my life following the incubator. When I entered the Ladies Who Launch incubator I was at a job in which I had already hit the proverbial ceiling. I am a licensed paramedical esthetician and I had just received my teaching certification. Not knowing what to do with that I turned to LWL for direction. After attending my first session I felt confident, it was very empowering. Armed with my new sense of confidence I put together a sales pitch. I began approaching hair only salon owners with the intention of opening my spa inside of their already existing business. My first stop was Rhona Allen Hair Studio and she gladly accepted my proposal! Immediately I had the benefit of operating from not only my client base but Rhona’s as well. Soon after Simply Esthetics East Bank Spa was established I accepted a position educating for an international skin care company. I am not sure if my life changed because of Ladies Who Launch but what I do know is that the network has given me the courage and confidence to pursue my dreams. It has been nearly six months since I attended the incubator and already my client base has nearly tripled.”

“I’m going to the Hamptons! I just heard back from Erika at 5W PR, and she loves the memory blanket and thinks the press will too. She said the event is open to 20 vendors, but she would love for me to be one of them. Thank you so much for passing the information on to Amber so that she could pass it to me. I really have to thank LWL for putting me out there. I would have never received an opportunity like this without LWL. — Thank you so much!”
Michelle Rubin

“Thank you for an amazing evening. You didn’t miss a beat, right down to the summer slushy drinks. What a gift to be in a room with an eclectic group of spirit-filled, inspiring and dynamic women! The timing with my relocation is perfect. Once again, LWL has provided the “shot in the arm” to keep the momentum going. In true LWL fashion, I’ve already scheduled coffee dates with a handful of women from last night. The possibilities are endless…”

“Dear Beth, I wanted to just take a moment to say a big fat thank you to you and Ladies Who Launch. My experience with you and all of the other ladies of our incubator was wonderfully profound and I find myself sitting here at the end of 2005 in a VERY different situation from the one I had imagined. I have watched my little idea grow into a full fledged operational business with at least one full time employee (ME!), I have learned how to gracefully accept compliments, I have met amazing women and made wonderful connections. I have learned the importance of doing nice things for myself, and best of all I have gotten fully and completely comfortable with the notion that anything is truly possible for me in my business and in my life if I commit to making it so – and that’s a gift of a lifetime. I’m so thankful I took the incubator, so thankful that I did it with you, and so thankful that I now can call you my friend:) You and Victoria have certainly tapped into something amazing and I can’t wait to see all of the wonderful things in store for each of us in the next year and years to come.”

“So many great things happened all at once after joining the incubator. The positive energy that came into my life coupled with your can do it attitude was simply inspiring. I suddenly had the confidence to make things happen in my llife , I began making decisions based on confidence in myself. Since I started the incubator I left a salon that was taking me nowhere, as a matter of fact it was holding me back. Armed with my new found confidence I gave Rhona Allen (salon owner who rented me space for classes in the past) a proposal. I showed her that having Simply Eshtetics operating from her salon would benefit her as a business owner as well as please her clients. Now her clients can not only receive hair services but now they have the benefit of nails, massage, facials and makeup all at one stop. Rhona gladly took Simply Esthetics into her facility. I now had the advantage of not only operating off of my client base but hers as well. Rhona is not my boss, we coexist, which means that when I have the opportunity to educate for the Danne skin care company I can! I am proud to say the company calls on me once a month to educate other professionals all over the U.S. Thank you for not only inspiring me but inspiring woman everywhere! I admire and respect you. The business world is a better place because Victoria Colligan and Beth Schoenfeltd are in it!”

“Hey Beth, The change in my business in one year’s time is truly phenomenal. I had launched Paper Bride before I began my incubator, but in truth the incubator gave me the courage, drive and motivation to really launch my business and set my wheels in motion in a MUCH bigger and better way than I would have ever been able to dream up on my own. I have met countless other inspiring and wonderful women, many of whom have become my good friends, received loads of help, referrals and other miscellaneous assistance, teamed up for joint promotional opportunities, press opportunities and just plain had lots of fun. In one year’s time I’ve gone from no one having ever heard of me to quitting my job to work on my business full-time, selling our products on theknot.com and many other major shops and department stores, a team of reps all across the United States, licensing my line to American Greetings and being chosen as one of Modern Bride’s Top 25 Trendsetters in the wedding industry for 2006. Ladies Who Launch absolutely, positively had a hand in every single one of these amazing feats. Best of all I now feel unstoppable, motivated, confident and driven to dream even bigger. I may have eventually gotten here on my own, but I doubt it–so for me, Ladies Who Launch is really the cat’s pajamas. xo, erica”

“Many thanks Karen, I am Soooo happy that I joined this group too! While my idea is in its very small and modest beginnings, I cant believe how much it is growing and I couldn’t be happier and more excited. The only problem is that I am so thrilled after each meeting I cant go to sleep for a few hours and I get up at 4.45am to start training every day! But that is not really a PROBLEM, just an enthusiastic response to wonderful women. Thank you Anne”

‘I went through the Ladies Who Launch Incubator in March 2005 - I showed up with a half dozen serious business ideas and asked the ‘ladies’ to help me sort it all out. I felt catapulted when I left the incubator. I no longer focused on the doubts - I was able to clearly see which direction to go and had all the confidence in the world to start down the path. I ended up opening a women’s clothing boutique within about 6 months. We opened November 22 - in time for holiday shopping and we’ve an amazing response. The store was paying for itself in our first month open. We have since added two employees and an online store. I wake up everyday and I love my job! Scratch that - I love my life! Ladies Who Launch was the best thing I have ever done for myself personally or professionally.”

“In addition to the amazing “Featured Lady” article you ladies have done on me, the episode of WHAT NOT TO WEAR (with Stacey London wearing my dress) aired on Friday night and our phones have been ringing off the hook!!! I REALLY think the dress is MAGIC!!!! I have received amazing emails from LWL members. It really is touching. I am so grateful for connecting with you, Victoria, and the inspiring, supportive members of LWL. Although I have worked unbelievably hard to make things happen for myself, I do believe that the power of the collective positive energy of the LWL members, the incubator, and my personal support network have made a great contribution to my recent windfall of events. It really is very emotional for me since what I do really comes from the heart. I think that this is an important part of the message that you are trying to put out there; that we can work and succeed from a very feminine, emotional, heartfelt place which, in my particular case, becomes so tangible through what we, as women, choose to wear. A big, heartfelt thank you for all of your support! Kathlin”

‘Each week I read the Ladies Who Launch profile stories and many quotes from the women who are featured have stayed with me. I thought it was powerful when one woman (Debbie Rotkvich from lia sophia) said that as soon as you get over rejection, it opens a whole new world. Another entrepreneur (Eva Jeanbart-Lorenzotti from Vivre) said it took her five years to convince people it was a good idea to put luxury items in catalogs. When you see someone else overcoming challenges, it’s highly motivating.”

“Being a Featured Lady on Ladies Who Launch has both enhanced and changed my business.
After being a Featured Lady on LadiesWhoLaunch.com in April 2004, I received numerous emails from readers who felt inspired by my story of turning my graduate project into a business. Mostly, their emails expressed how they’re planning on starting a business and by reading my story of perseverance and tenacity; they’re going ahead with pursuing their ideas for starting a business. It inspires me when people express that I’ve inspired them! As a direct result of the LadiesWhoLaunch.com, my company client has grown and diversified outside sports and rock n’ roll. When my story appeared on LadiesWhoLaunch.com, I sent the article to LA Designers, Rabbi’s Daughters because I wanted to pitch making bags for them. They contacted me because they enjoyed the LadiesWhoLauch.com feature and suggested we could work together. We arranged to meet and before our first meeting was finished we decided to create all new Yiddish Graffiti Bags to add to their collection of tank tops and T-shirts that feature Yiddish sayings. Our line of Yiddish Graffiti Travel Bags, Tote Bags and Make Up Bags go on sale in November 2004 for the holiday season. Another exciting development from being featured on LadiesWhoLaunch.com is that one of the writers (Michele Cerza) contacted me in June and suggested I submit an application to the Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs. On September 29th I was notified that I have become a Finalist in The 2004 Stevie Awards for Women Entrepreneurs.

J.J. Creations Finalist Awards:
Best New Product of the Year (J.J. The Bag Lady)
Best Young Entrepreneur (J.J. Matis)

The award ceremony is being held in New York on October 22, 2004. With all that’s going on in our world, I have found it a difficult time to start a company. However, having LadiesWhoLaunch.com at my fingertips often provides me with the encouragement to continue pursuing my dreams. Whenever I feel discouraged, I visit LadiesWhoLaunch.com, read a Featured Ladies Story, review the Resources & Tips Section or Virtual Forum Section and continue to be inspired and motivated about not giving up.
