The Fairmount Group LLC is an independent consulting practice specializing in communications management. We provide businesses and nonprofit organizations with counsel, training and services to build strong relationships with their key stakeholders. Its practice areas include strategic planning, market research, brand management, marketing communications, public relations, media relations, presentation and media spokesperson training, graphic design, digital communications, special events management, and crisis communications. For our nonprofit clients, we also provide counsel and support in the areas of fundraising and development, member recruitment and volunteer management. Based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Dawn Hanson is the founder and president of this growing firm.
Now in its third year of business, The Fairmount Group has grown from a one-woman firm to a team of nine seasoned communications professionals with a diverse roster of clients. Our clients range from local small businesses (including several owned by fellow members of Ladies Who Launch), nonprofit and government organizations (like Ohio Citizen Action and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District) to large corporations (such as Microsoft Corporation and Black Entertainment Television) and international clients (such as Life for Africa and the University of Helsinki.)
The Fairmount Group has had an exciting autumn with three huge reasons to celebrate.
1 – The crisis communications plan that developed by The Fairmount Group for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District won national recognition as a “best practice” by the Council of Greater City Schools, an organization representing the needs of urban school districts across the country. Leaders of the CMSD and Dawn Hanson were invited to present this “best practice” at the Council of Greater City Schools’ national conference in October.
2 – The Fairmount Group was named a 2009 “Ten Under 10” award winner by Cleveland’s Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE). Each year, COSE recognizes ten companies with ten employees or less for their best practices and commitment to innovation, growth, the community, the environment, diversity and excellent customer service. Dawn Hanson accepted the award at COSE’s annual conference and was featured in the organization’s magazine.
3 – The Fairmount Group was named a “Top Ten Entrepreneurial Success Story for 2009” by Cleveland Business Connects (CBC) magazine. The Fairmount Group is now poised for continued success and growth.
We’ve come a long way in past year and we look forward to an even more prosperous 2010.
