SPACE TREAT: Diagnosis: Cord Confusion

April 26th, 2005 · No Comments

Erica Ecker

Symptoms:

  • You have a box of miscellaneous cords (ipod, electric, phone, computer, printer, digital camera) stored in your closet.
  • You continue to accumulate these cords for fear that someday you’ll need one.
  • Someday comes and you can’t figure out which cord is which so you have to buy a new one anyway.
  • Someday never comes and you’ve wasted precious space in your home or office holding on to a box of spaghetti cord jumble.

Remedy:

  • Before you toss various cords in the box, label each one with the name of the item it belongs to. Write the name on masking tape, blue painters tape, label machine tape, or use a color-coded label kit and then wrap it around the appropriate cord.
  • So, a year later when you’re in desperate need of a video camera cord, you can go directly to it!

Organizationally yours,
