I’m addicted to post-it notes.
What can I say… of all the vices available today, it doesn’t seem to be such a bad one.
In my own defense let me say that I’ve got it under control… I’ll explain. At my desk I keep a cube of small brightly colored post-it notes (2″ x 2″) right next to the pens. Whenever I need to quickly jot down a phone number, an idea, an errand, a reminder or whatever, I just write it on it’s own individual post-it.
But here’s the rub… and this is why I say I have it under control. By the end of the day, if I haven’t directly addressed or taken care of a particular post-it created earlier that very day, then I just schedule it into my calendar or type it into the computerized “stickies” on my Mac. This quick and simple process lets me review and toss out the day’s post-it notes and start fresh the next day. It not only reduces the visual noise at your desk but it also gives you clarity of mind. Try it for a week…
Of course, you could just go directly to the computerized “stickies” but I simply won’t give up post-its, they’re just too much fun!
Organizationally yours,
