Attack of the Ambiguous Adapters.

Imagine this? you’re merrily clearing out your clutter and you discover an unidentified AC adapter tucked away in the back of your junk drawer. It’s almost in the trash bag when you start wondering? What piece of equipment does it belong to? Do I even have that piece of equipment anymore? Have I ever used this? Will I ever use this? And thus you end up keeping it along with 5 other unidentified adapters and miscellaneous cords. Sound familiar?

The next time you unpack the box from your newest electronic toy, just put a label on the adapter and clearly state which product it belongs to.

For example, you’ve just purchased a new Acme cell phone, you unpack the box and you file away the instructions with all your other user manuals. You toss the box (wait two weeks to make sure the phone works properly as you can’t return it without the box). Then you go to plug it in and discover that you’ll just use the adapter you’re currently using. So you go to toss this new one into your bin of “electronic stuff”. Wait just one minute there? before the toss, just slap on a label, use your p-touch, some masking tape or even a silver Sharpie will do the trick. Label it “Acme cell phone”. Trust me, when you discover this adaptor 2 years from now, you’ll be happy you took the extra 3 minutes to clearly identify it!

Organizationally yours,
Erica
