It probably seems like it is going to be a complicated process to install a VoIP solution into your office. What you may not know, however, is that your office could already have the majority of what it needs to support a VoIP system.
There are only a few things you will need in order to install VoIP into your office. They include:
High-speed internet – VoIP uses the Internet to send and receive calls, so the most important thing you will need for a VoIP phone system is a high-speed or broadband internet connection. If your office already has such a connection, which, it most likely does, then you are well on your way to having VoIP in your office. Your internet connection should be tested to ensure that it will be able to handle the extra traffic caused by VoIP in order for it to continue to run smoothly.
VoIP adaptor – You will not be able to use your current telephones with your new phone systems because calls are sent and received differently when using VoIP. VoIP converts the sound of your voice into data packets that get sent over the Internet, so you will need to purchase an adaptor that attaches to your phones which allows them to complete this process. Most VoIP companies can provide you with such adaptors. You can also use your computer to make calls if it is equipped with a microphone, but this can sometimes be a hassle. Specialized VoIP phones can also be purchased, however, purchasing a new phone for all of your employees may become costly. Using a Voice over IP service adaptor is probably the easiest, most cost-effective route to go.
Choosing to incorporate a VoIP phone system into your office isn’t as difficult as it may sound. If your office has a high-speed internet connection, then you already have the most important component of VoIP.
