E-Commerce Tips

ECommerceAnyone who has ever been shopping will probably agree that the easier the process is, the more likely they are going to make a purchase, and this holds true for e-shopping as well. Designing and programming your site as user friendly as possible will greatly help to convert visitors into buyers.

A few other features you might want to consider are:

• Search Box: If your customers have a particular item they are looking to purchase, make it easier for them to find what they are looking for. This will make it more likely they will return for future purchases.
• Shipping Costs: Offer the use of a shipping calculator that lets the customer know the final costs prior to the check out portion so there are no surprises that will end up in abandoned shopping carts.
• Syncing your charges: Make the payment process as quick as possible with the fewest amount of steps needed by setting up your merchant account to have your system charge the customer’s credit cards automatically.
• Pictures: People are still getting used to buying items they are physically looking at, so make sure to include pictures of each items, they likely will not buy what they cannot see.
• Simple Design: Simple does not have to mean plain, just easy for the customer to navigate and see the products easily. A lot of flash and movement only distracts them from what they want to buy.
• Showcasing: Treat your website like a store front, don’t be afraid to put the popular or on sale items up front so customers notice them first. Similar to a display on the sidewalk in front of your store.

Once you have decided on the options and make sure you adhere to all of the legalities (get those security certificates), you will be well on your way to a great and profitable e-commerce business.
