From Victoria Colligan, Founder, Ladies Who Launch
LaunchTip: After observing and modeling hundreds of successful entrepreneurs over time, I’ve noticed that, contrary to what you may think, success is not dictated by any one formula, nor is the outgrowth of level of experience, quality of education, number of years in business or how much money one has; rather I’ve noticed that the key differentiator between a successful person and someone still striving for the next level is this:
Successful people do NOT get ahead of themselves. They have the “big” vision set clearly in their minds and then they do what’s directly in front of them, meaning they take the next small step to get there.
All too often I’ve seen well meaning entrepreneurs project so many levels of possible consequences to a range of choices and actions, that instead of facilitating their naturally well honed instincts, they sabotage their goals by creating problems and anxiety where there was none to begin with. The next time you feel yourself going down this path, stop and ask yourself what benefit this way thinking has to you in the moment? Ask yourself, what purpose is this serving?
The bottom line is, most, if not all fears, simply go away when we don’t prematurely address them and create “mountains out of molehills” so to speak. What’s more? This way of handling problems is an extreme waste of your passion that ultimately depletes your energy reserves from their intended purpose: To move you forward expediently toward your goals.
