Visual representations of goals will reinforce them, turning wishful thinking into action. That’s why, inspired by Chapter 6 of John Assaraf’s book The Answer , I organized a Vision Board Creation Day for my family. I gave each person a large piece of foam board, scissors, markers, old magazines and access to the internet and a printer. Then we spent most of the day creating posters depicting our hopes and dreams, bringing us closer as a family as we shared suggestions, advice, connections and resources.
This activity was as fun for my 4-year-old daughter as it was for my teenage niece and my husband. Over dinner we presented our boards and the path toward fulfillment began. Now that we’ve all hung them in plain view, inspiration is everywhere. In this way, vision boards can truly feel magical!
