Never underestimate the local press. This amazing source of editorial coverage is free to all entrepreneurs and can generate wider exposure down the road. Identify a newsworthy topic connected to your business then demonstrate your expertise to an editor by submitting a well-crafted press release along with a photo with a compelling caption. A good press release is not plain advertising or an opinionated “puffy” article about you or your product. Rather it reads like a story coming from a trusted news source. You’ll enhance your image as an authority in your field and gain credibility.
Subscribe to your local papers, build relationships with editors and use their readership to create buzz about your business. Remain patient and positive if your piece does not appear in print right away or at all. Keep trying. You are bound to succeed.
