Although modern-day technology solves many things, there are still some issues best resolved by old-fashioned protocol. Enter the frustration of calling a company and not getting a live person on the phone. Lately I’ve heard many an entrepreneur complain about missing calls from customers due to being out of the office, too many open lines, or one too many untraceable hang ups. Whatever happened to answering services? The “answer”, no pun intended, is that they are alive and well and getting much buzz. Many businesses, including, one-person operations, and virtual enterprises, are turning to answering services to ensure that callers get a live person, diminishing the their chances of missing important calls. Recently I’ve given this serious consideration. My meetings with clients are several hours; it is upsetting when you see your phone light going (incoming call), call the service when your appointment is over, and no message is left. In my business, many do not like to leave any message.
On the other side, I’m still weighing the benefits of hiring a service – I don’t know if I want anyone else having that 1st initial contact with a potential client.
Tough decisions.
