From Victoria Colligan, Founder, Ladies Who Launch

Not sure what you thought but I was pretty surprised and disappointed when champion poker player Annie Duke, lost to Joan Rivers on the Celebrity Apprentice in the final round. Singly the only person on the show who never allowed personal emotions to interfere with her boardroom professionalism, she also impressed me with her ability to use game strategy to guide her on a winning path. Although Joan Rivers continuously pegged her as manipulative and cunning, I don’t think I’m alone in my belief that her mastery of the “game” was 100% invigorating to watch in action. The fact that she made it to the finalist spot affirmed on many levels that the business of success is, in fact, largely, a game; so why didn’t Annie win the final round? Could be many reasons and even some behind the scenes marketing strategies that we may never know and that Donald Trump, for all his outward drama, may never divulge (the Celebrity Apprentice is, after all, just another killer entertainment app). Or maybe Annie, for all her gaming prowess, was lacking one key ingredient: That passion and belief in something greater than herself that she was striving for and working towards. For all Joan Rivers’ crassness and dramatics, she certainly wasn’t lacking that!
