Several years ago I attended a dinner party with a gentleman who was in the midst of researching and investing in “resveratrol”, a chemical found in red wine that in high concentrations may have the potential to literally reverse aging by preventing disease; I honestly thought this man was blowing hot air and a bit crazy, despite my passion for wellness and ongoing search for the best products and services. Seems I may have been the crazy one. In-depth scientific studies have shown that resveratrol may be able to extend life by activating a gene, called sirtuin, that when triggered, prevents and reverses diseases like cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Unfortunately, one would have to drink 1,000 bottles of red wine a day to reap the benefits. There are many supplements available, however, we are still years away from any definitive answers and with any supplements, do your homework.
