To connect with the right clients and business associates, forge win-win cross marketing partnerships with complementary companies that already sell to your target audience. For instance, how often do you see MP3 players advertised with running shoes? Or work-out wear with power drinks ? All the time. That’s because running and music, and sweating and sports-ade go hand in hand. A joint campaign benefits not only both companies but consumers as well. Collaborative efforts such as placing articles in other companies’ newsletters, sharing ad space, co-writing blogs, and sending out joint press releases are all ways to cross market. You’ll conserve your capital, save time, and grow your business, doubling the return you would realize if you advertised alone!

Ladies Who Launch is proof of your tip. Another way that is working for me (the idea came to me from this site as well), is to volunteer your services in the community; as a Legal Document Assistant(LDA) it has been a valuable experience and directed business my way. If it is not a service but a product, donate it in the area or ask a related web site to offer a one time free promotion package (or product).
The web has really given us some great tools to market our businesses – very sharp tools.
Have a great day Ladies.

Terrific idea…… But how does one go about finding cross-marketing for a high end customized dress line (www.shibuidesignsltd.com)? I’d love to get your thoughts!!!!
Happy Day.

Fabulous idea and cross-marketing really does work!! I have partnered before with 2 other entrepreneurs (long before LWL), Weekenders Clothing and Mary Kay by showcasing new styles, seasons, and colors to all of our customers, mine being http://www.TheElegantBead.com jewelry to complete the look. They loved the idea that one stop shopping was available and we all went in knowing that not all customers would purchase from all of our businesses, but introducing our products and ourselves to new clients! You must have that complete understanding beforehand and you never know who will contact you from that show when the time is right for them.
I would be interested in meeting any others in the Denver/ Boulder area to do a similar show!
Best,

Thats a great idea. I am going to start looking for companies that may want to crosspromote my jewelry. Clothing comes to my mind first, but I should thing of some other businesses that aren’t necessarily fashion related.

Cross marketing is a great concept and one I am going to investigate further. Our business is an on-line accessories boutique, http://www.flirtyfinds.com. One of our key concepts is how you can take your basic “uniform” – (i.e. a great pair of jeans and t’s) and use our accessories (bags, belt, wraps, sweaters, etc.) to create a stylish and polished look. Thanks to your tip today, I plan to reach out to other businesses, perhaps a great jean label, to do some cross promotion. Thanks!
Best,
Beth
