When I opened my image consulting company, setting prices was a challenge. I researched similar businesses and set my fees on the low end, then charged my first client even less. My professional mentor flipped! Instead of conveying the message that people can’t afford NOT to hire me, I looked desperate and gave the impression that I didn’t have confidence in myself. Don’t think people will flock to you if you have low prices. Even in this tough economy, if you lowball your fees, you’re undervaluing your worth. Do not second guess yourself; do not apologize for your invoices. Rather, provide a superior service or an excellent product and make sure clients/buyers recognize it! Give it all you’ve got because if customers are benefiting from their relationship with your business, they won’t hesitate to pay for it!
