Spiritualists often profess this mantra: In a truly enlightened realm there is nowhere to go and nothing to get. Things are perfect in their current state.
In fact, they proclaim that acceptance of one’s circumstances exactly as they are, is ironically, the first step towards changing them. Yet if you’re like me, you might think that motivation is in conflict with this kind of acceptance.
What I’ve come to realize or “accept” (no pun intended) only recently is that you can be genuinely, even ecstatically, happy in the moment, while still inspired to move something forward that appears to be in the future. The hook is that “time” as we humans define it, is just a construct of our reality, a way to break down the moments into bite-sized pieces so we can make sense of them and embrace them.
Once you let go of this notion of time, you come to understand that everything you desire and set forth to achieve is actually all part of one giant moment that you are living, not just moving towards.
