Are you wondering why some websites show up on Google search pages on page one above the fold when your website is further down the ranks, or not present at all? Here is a quick system you can use to optimize any page on your website that is practically full-proof:
1. Start with your home page. Identify what words or terms you think people are keying into the Google search box that you believe would ultimately drive people to your website.
2. Once you’ve identified those terms, find 2 to 3 strategic ways to weave them into the content of your home page (make sure your content is html not flash or image driven for this technique to be most effective).
3. Measure results by using these now incorporated terms to conduct follow up searches on Google. Compare changes in your rankings after making the changes to your home page. This method is the best way to measure immediate results. Since it sometimes takes Google analytics time to catch up, you cannot rely on traffic rankings in the short term to measure the success. Over time, however, you should see an increase in the number of unique website users visiting your website.
