Daily LaunchTip, April 13, 2009

April 13th, 2009 · No Comments

From Victoria Colligan, Founder, Ladies Who Launch

The sooner we realize that strategy is a whole lot more than saying whatever is on our minds, the sooner we reach our goals and get what we want out of life. I’ve watched many well-meaning entrepreneurs confuse honesty and authenticity with strategy, sabotaging their dreams by feeling a need to over-communicate and over-emotionalize in situations that require methodical, organized planning as opposed to passion and dramatics. When you feel tempted by emotion to express your thoughts at a given moment in time, take a step back and consider your audience. Consider your goals both short term and long term and ask yourself if what you are about to express will further them in any advantageous way. These are tough questions and offen require restraint in situations where we would rather “express”. Know that you can call on passion expression when it will work to your benefit but be strategic and develop self-awareness enough to know the difference.
