We all know you want your company to feel protected and your employees feel safe, but the bottom line is how much are these business security systems going to cost. Each facet of a business security system has different rates, and you need to factor in all costs when drawing up a budget. Don’t forget to take into consideration the pricing of different vendors. Below are some average rates to compare.
Alarm systems are actually the most cost-friendly option. Standard monthly fees range from around $25-$40 a month, if you want to add on the two-way monitoring system factor in around $10 extra a month. Setup fees vary depending on the equipment you choose and the size of your company. Rates can vary from $100-$4,000 for installation and equipment (the higher end being for complex systems).
Access control systems are more difficult to predict the cost. Most companies will want to have a sit down and talk to you one on one to see exactly what you need, and the type of security level you will need. You still want to meet with multiple vendors to get an idea of what a reasonable price is and what most companies are willing to offer and at what price.
Even though it is hard to predict the cost of card systems, there are some areas that can be estimated. Most card access systems for a single door can range from $1500-$2500. If you need multiple doors to have devices on them, the per-door price usually goes down. These prices should include the hardware, software and installation for the system. The biggest thing to factor in for card access systems is to decide how many “extras” you will want. For example, iris scanning systems are much more expensive and can easily reach $10,000 or more for a single access point. The point here is to make sure you have the level of security your company needs.
Video surveillance systems have so many different factors; you need to remember there are multiple costs to factor in. Actually cameras are not too expensive, so you might want to invest in a better camera. Brand name cameras can be found anywhere from $120-$250. Like with alarm systems and access control systems, the price varies on how many “bells and whistles” you would like. Larger formats, higher resolution, and better sensitivity all drive the price up.
Once you have found the camera its time to determine what kind of recording device you will want your camera to be hooked up to. Basically it depends on your company’s needs and how much you want to spend. Quality DVRs generally start at $500 to $1,000+ for a single channel device, and get more expensive the more memory and inputs you add. If you are willing to use VCRs, VCRs designed for security use start at $200 to $400 and go up to $600 or more.
