Letter From Us
I always say that if you really want to get something done, hire a mom. No one else can multitask quite like a woman who’s used to juggling spit-up, soccer games, grocery shopping, status reports, and strategy meetings. We’ve dedicated June to mompreneurship, which really just means addressing how to manage it all (life, business) while also embracing the role of Mom.
Many women who own businesses are also mothers, but don’t consider themselves “mommypreneurs” because their businesses don’t inextricably link back to their children (i.e. their idea didn’t come from changing diapers, doing kids-related art projects, or designing the ultimate diaper bag). However, there was something important for us to capture in June: Women are doing it all and having it all more than at any time in history, but we may not be doing it all and having it all … at the same time. We’re getting pretty smart about how to strike a happy balance between home life, work life, and personal life, even if it means realizing that some days balance doesn’t exist.
This month’s magazine is dedicated to supplying tools on how to do your life and work better. So don’t fret if you’ve birthed offspring and are your own boss but don’t think of yourself as a “mompreneur.” This issue is still for you, sister, because you’re doing two of the most rewarding (and demanding) jobs in the world, and our hope is to make one—or both—of them easier.
