Brett Blumenthal founded Sheer Balance in 2007 when she realized that many of her friends and colleagues constantly struggled with finding balance in their every day hectic lives. They often didn't have the time to dedicate to cooking and eating healthy, exercising, or taking time out for themselves. Further, she realized that many of these individuals were frustrated by the overwhelming amount of information that was contradicting, unclear and misleading when it came to healthy living. As a result, Brett saw a need to provide individuals with the right tools and information to make living healthy easy and fun.
Brett has over 17 years of experience in wellness. Her passion began as a freshman in college, when she quickly realized that exercise and good nutrition were vital to releasing stress and maintaining balance. As an AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) certified group fitness instructor, Brett went on to teach for Cornell University, the Cornell Club of NYC, Gold's Gym and Bally's Total Fitness in New York.
Brett received her MBA in 2004 and has become a trusted advisor and speaker to the lifestyle, spa and wellness industries in areas of strategic planning, brand strategy, communications and program development. However, she is most passionate about working with women looking to better their lives through balanced living. Brett speaks and teaches on topics of health and wellness, and writes for several online media companies. She is often featured on popular websites including Shine! from Yahoo, Yahoo!, Intent, Divine Caroline and Gather. In December of 2008, Brett was named "Woman of the Year" by Shine from Yahoo! for her quality and influential blogging. In December 2009, Sheer Balance won the Divine Caroline - Love this Site! Award within the Body and Soul Category. Most recently, her first book: "GET REAL" and STOP Dieting! became a #1 Amazon Bestseller.
Brett holds a Bachelor in Architecture and an MBA, with a focus in Spa Development and Brand Strategy, from Cornell University.
